Concept
software will track your ads from when they are
entered, thru composition, to pagination until
they are archived. The Concept system has four
basic components.
The AdEntry piece of the system is where the ad
order is initially entered. It keeps track of
the ad info and run schedule. An ad runsheet is
generated for each edition that shows which ads
are scheduled to run.
The AdTracking component is used by the
composition department to retrieve ad info such
as ad size and color. The first time an ad is
worked on AdTracking will create a Quark
document and automatically set it to the correct
ad size. It also keeps track of the status of an
ad as it is worked on by the composition
department. The ad status starts as "New" when
the ad is booked, goes to "In Progress" when
composition starts the ad, then to "Proof: and
finally "Complete" when the ad is finished.
AdTracking keeps track of the Quark document and
generates a PDF file for each ad. Adtracking
passes the ad info to the next component of the
system, the AdDummy program. The AdDummy program
is used to create the ad dummy for each edition
of the publication. Once the ad dummy is
finished, the page geometry is passed to the
Quark Express for pagination. The location of
the finished ad PDF file is also sent to Quark
and if the PDF is completed, it is automatically
imported into Quark. |
