Inside Lacrosse Magazine is the Gold Winner for the 2008 FOLIO: Magazine Eddie and Ozzie Awards, the largest awards competition in magazine publishing. IL's June 2008 issue that featured Mikey Powell on the cover has been awarded the Gold in the Consumer/Sports Full Issue category, ranking above fellow finalists Field & Stream and Soundings.

"'This is an amazing honor. Looking at some of the other gold-medal winners, it's incredibly humbling to be grouped in with the best magazines in the world," said IL vice president and editor-in-chief John Jiloty. "Our June 2008 issue was probably the most well-rounded and diverse we've ever put out. And that speaks directly to the creativity and vision of our entire editorial staff, and the collaboration between the designers and editors."

Inside Lacrosse's editorial team for the June 2008 issue included John Jiloty, Art Director James Schaffer, Associate Editor Geoff Shannon, Assistant Editor Terry Foy, Staff Writer Jon Brand, Assistant Art Director Keely Knopp, Senior Graphic Designer Matt Cain and Online Editor Sean Burns. The issue featured Foy's cover story and Schaffer's photos on Mikey Powell, Shannon's look into the future of the NCAA Tournament, Jiloty's MLL Draft preview and Peter Lasagna's back-page column, as well as a complete MLL season preview, an NLL Players' Survey from NLLInsider.com's Paul Tutka, a package on the biggest high school upsets and comprehensive instructional and lifestyle content.

Last year Inside Lacrosse Magazine finished third in the Consumer/Sports Single Article category for the 2007 Eddie Awards for the "All Access: Along for the Ride" piece by Mike Keegan and James Schaffer that documented the 2006 Virginia Cavaliers' experience at the '06 NCAA Final Four.

The Eddie and Ozzie Awards recognize excellence in magazine editorial and design, and this year's competition drew more than 2,800 entries. More than 100 expert judges spent weeks evaluating the entries and selecting three finalists in each category.
